STUDY FOR AUGUST 18-24, 2019

This Bible study involves the familiar account of Bartamaeus, a Blind Man, who is healed and then tells the authorities as Jewish law commanded.   Bartamaeus told them, “It was a man called Jesus but I don’t now where he is” when they asked where all this happened.

The authorities were very upset because a “healing” took place on the Sabbath.  Rejoicing because a man who was blind can now see had not and never would enter their minds.

There are various kinds of blindness wouldn't you agree?  Thomas Q. shows us the growth of this blind man from having a need to being healed and from knowing the name of Jesus to understanding who He was and represented spiritually.

This was a big deal to the Pharisees.  Note how the parents of Bartamaeus are blind too.  Note how Bartamaeus grows spiritually in a short period of time and is punished by those inroblem is able to  be corrected right away – and it’s just between you and Jesus Christ.  It’s vital that you cle authority.

This account of Bartamaeus also clearly illustrates how God initiates the relationship with Him.  He is the one who is always reaching out to us.  There was a beautiful song written back in the 1970’s by Gary Paxton, a famous rock and roll songwriter.  It expressed a principle that he found in his conversion to God through Jesus Christ after a life of tough, Godless living.  The song says, “He Was There All the Time!”

So, how is your vision when it comes to spiritual matters?  Any of us can get spiritual astigmatism, nearsignedness or even macular degenertion.  But you know what?  Your spiritual vision parly see what is real and true and beautiful and worth the investment of your life?

Our scripture is from the 9th chapter of the Gospel of John, verses 35-41.  Dr. Thomas Q. Robbins calls this message, “How Well Do YOU See?”

Something To Consider

God used cosmic events and entered into historical events in the early years of his revelation to mankind but that general revelation was incomplete.   Not until He came to earth as a little baby, in a humble setting, did God complete what he intended.  He revealed his will for the salvation of the world through his son.   Jesus was both flesh and God.  He entered into the history of mankind and was seen and heard as "one of us."  He came to earth, not to condemn the world but that the world through His plan and person could be reconciled and have a personal relationship with him.
