Matthew 3:13-17

BIBLE STUDY for FEBRUARY 10 to 16, 2019.

Dr. Thomas Q. Robbins

Oh, if we all only understood exactly who we are in Jesus Christ!

Where do you find your identity and feel your significance?  Good question with many answers but only one will release for you a real understanding of who you really are.

How do you determine your identity...who you are...your significance?

Does your identity -- your significance -- come from your surroundings or from what your do and how well you do it?  Psychologically, if you establish your sense of being base on these criteria you will have a sense of meaning - identity, but it’s only surface stuff and temporary. God wants us to be certain of who we are.  Did you catch the meaning of that statement?  Being certain of who we are will be directly related to “who we are” -- NOT what we do, how we do it, or who we’re with when we do it.

As simplistic as it may sound to many our true identity can only be determined by who we are in Jesus Christ.  To point out this relationship, Thomas Q. uses the act of baptism to explain.

Something To Consider

We’ve all had our share of failing to accomplish something that we set out to do.  But, failing in this way isn’t the same thing as failure!   Failure occurs when we give up and no longer think that we can succeed.  So remember, success comes in “cans”  --  failure comes in “can’ts!"  The truth is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  (Philippians 4:13)    -Thomas Q.
